Laux and Usseaux on Google Maps.
Laux and Usseaux are two alpine villages in Chisone Valley. Laux, the only village to be on the orographic right of the Chisone stream, is located on the heights of a basin that collects the waters that form the Lake of Laux. An alpine village remained stopped in the time with its stone-paved streets, the small square with the fountain and the wash house, the oven and the church of S. Maria Maddalena. A leap into the past that welcomes visitors in a quiet and charming atmosphere. In the restaurant on the shores of the lake, it is possible to taste typical products of the valley, such as the tasty cheeses produced by local cattle and sheep farmers. The village on the other side of the valley, Usseaux it is a very active village walking through the streets of the village, you discover the life, traditions and culture of the place observing the dozens of murals that cover parts of the houses of the village. A tradition appreciated by tourists this year, is the use of the ancient stalls excavated in the land often unexpected and some spectacular with arches and columns of stone that support the house, transformed into small Christmas markets. Atypical markets, those of Usseaux, not in the streets and squares of the village but inside the stables once a refuge for sheep and cattle and used in the days before Christmas in places where to taste and to buy handicrafts, distillates of aromatic herbs, products of the kitchen and local traditions. A real surprise for visitors looking for unusual and particular Christmas markets and particular Christmas gift.
