The trip on Google Maps.
Sospel,Sainte Agnes Castellar, Castillon and Gorbio they are villages that date back to the Middle Ages, villagers at that time frequented from merchants and knights being on the road that connected Menton with the hinterland of French Riviera and with Turin. Today they are frequented by tourists looking for ancient villages close to the French Riviera. Sospel is the farthest, the one that once marked, with its bridge and its customs, the passage of goods and direct people or that came from Cuneo in Italy passing from Colle di Tenda. The other smaller towns were home of marquises and counts who built their castles and their fortified villages to defend the territories cultivated with olive trees by the assaults of Saracen pirates. A short journey into the past to discover medieval villages now become tourist centers where to buy handicrafts, discover the local culture visiting the museums or enjoy typical dishes of the region. A voyage of discovery through the alleys of very old villages.
