Dive in Mulaku Kandu (Maldives)

Maldives - Travel - Back to index

By: Carlo Piccinelli

Meemu Atoll on Google Maps.
The atoll of Meemu, 48 km long by 26 wide, is located about six hours of navigation south of the Maldivian capital of Male. Despite its size, there are few islands and a few fishing villages in the atoll but its reef is known among divers for its beautiful kandu (pass) diving. The most famous kandu are Boahuraa, Kurali and certainly the most interesting Mulaku kandu, a long and narrow kandu where the currents allow fun experiences between the reef walls that run fast in front of the divers transported inside the atoll after visiting the drop off at about 30 meters deep. During the dive is easy to find, in the shelter of the ravines, resting nurse sharks or large schools of trevally. A beautiful dive not to be missed during your cruise holidays to discover the southern atolls.
