Natal part 1 (Brazil)

Brazil - Travel - Back to index

By: Carlo Piccinelli

Natal on Google Maps.
Natal is one of the most touristic towns on the north east coast of Brazil. Founded by Portuguese in 1599 just on Christmas day, after few years it became Dutch and this mix of dominations can be seen in the neighborhoods of old Natal town where there are small craft shops, artisan shops and markets of typical products. If seaside tourism is the main attraction of the city, a visit to the Portuguese neighborhoods and the ancient Fort dos Rels Magos dating back to 1630, one of the few examples left intact after the end of the European domination of the territory. A journey not only of fun on the beaches and clubs of the dynamic Brazilian city but also of culture, history and, as we will see in the second part of the reportage, of nature.
