Atoll of Alifu on Google Maps.
The Alifu atoll or Ari Atoll, is a very large atoll (90 km per 30 km), divided administratively into two parts: Ari north and Ari south. One of the atolls most known by tourists and divers who frequent Maldives being one of the first atolls open to tourism as early as the seventies. The most famous diving spots are the thila (shallows) of Angothi, Fish Head, Maaya and the Kandhu Oli (Pass) of Maalhos and Gangehi. Alifu-Alifu Atoll is located on the western side of the Maldivian archipelago and is about 35 nautical miles from Male. In Ari atoll there are hundreds of islands of which many uninhabited and only 6 inhabited by Maldivians while 12 are the islands that host resort. A journey not only for scuba divers but also for relaxing and peaceful holidays between sun and sea baths.
