La Digue on Google Maps.
La Digue is the fourth largest island in size in Seychelles archipelago formed by 150 islands. La Digue, only 10 square kilometers, has only one town called La Passe. Call in this way for the presence, in the coral reef that surrounds the island, of a canal that allows ferries to connect it to the nearby island of Praslin to enter in the port. The western side, the most touristic and inhabited, has long white sandy beaches protected by the lagoon while the eastern side, separated from the western one by an high mountain range, is rocky, rugged, wild and uninhabited. There are no cars on the island and you can only move on foot or by bike. From the port to the hotels it is possible to have the service of carts drawn by cows, a nice and ecological idea to bring tourists and luggage to the respective resorts present on the island. On the island is still produced copra oil, extracted from coconuts and vanilla the fragrant fruit putting to dry on large wooden counters. A nice holiday walking in a wild forest or sunbathing on the beautiful beaches of the islands bathed by a crystal clear sea.
